Calgary police said they have confiscated 25 kilograms of cocaine in one of the largest cocaine seizures in the city's history.

Officers from the drug unit stopped a car in the northwest part of the city on Tuesday night and found five kilograms of cocaine worth about $150,000 and also $100,000 in cash.

Police used a search warrant to enter a home on the same block of Hawthorne Drive N.W., where they discovered 20 kilograms of cocaine valued at about $600,000 and another $100,000 in cash.

Three handguns and a rifle were also seized from the home, police said Wednesday.

A 30-year-old man from Calgary and a 28-year-old man from Victoria have been charged with one count each of possession of cocaine and crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
