Suspicious death in southeast Calgary probed

Calgary police are investigating after a body was discovered in the city's southeast early this morning.

Area resident reports hearing gunshots but it's unclear if that's related

Calgary police are investigating after a body was discovered in the city's southeast early this morning.

Police were called to the 2600 block of 43rd Street S.E. after a resident reported a suspicious person just before 6 a.m. MT.

Officers discovered a body when they arrived.

StevenOuellette, who lives in the area, said he heard "four or five pops" around 1:30 a.m. MT and believes it was gunshots, but it's unclear if that was related to the death.

Policehavenot released any details about the investigation so far and have not deemed the death a homicide, describing it only as suspicious.
