Nenshi's 'Cities Matter' survey published without Conservative response

Calgary voters who want to know where federal parties stand on issues specific to their city can now find answers at a website maintained by Mayor Naheed Nenshi for the most part. The Conservative Party of Canada has yet to respond to the mayor's questionnaire.

Calgary voters who want to know where federal parties stand on issues specific to their city can now find answers at a websitemaintainedby Mayor NaheedNenshi for the most part.

The Conservative Party of Canada has yet to respond to the mayor's questionnaire on Calgary-related topics,while every other majorfederal party has provided answers which are posted online at CitiesMatter.ca.

"The Conservatives are very, very late although they do assure us they will eventually fill out the survey," Nenshisaid.

The mayor said all political parties were given two weeks to respond to the surveyand the deadline was more than a week ago.

He said he expects the Conservatives may provide their answers by late Thursday, at which time he will have them posted online alongside the other responses.

The questions address topics such as funding for public transit, affordable housing, aboriginal issues, combating poverty, disaster mitigation, and the Calgary economy.

Nenshiput out similar questionnaires to provincial politicians and posted their responses during the 2012 and 2015 election campaigns and during the Alberta PC party's 2011 and 2014 leadership votes.
