Some of Calgary's less fortunate are hoping they can bring a smile to a young child's face this Christmas.

The Mustard Seed held a shoe box packing party Friday in support of Operation Christmas Child.

Clients filled boxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and candy, said Operation Christmas Childs Ben Silcox.

"The guests here really connect with the children in those situations, so they absolutely get it and they love it and are very enthusiastic. A lot of the guests pack one, two, 10 boxes even."

Silcox says in the past, the shelter has packed as many as 80 shoe boxes, this time, their goal is 100.

"That opportunity to give is very special and the guests really connect with that, and so this is a great opportunity to give to someone all over the world."
