A Calgary man is asking for help in solving the mystery of his brother's death.

The body of 47-year-old Mark Anthony Mariani was found in a northwest parking lot on Oct. 3 last year.

Crime Stoppers filmed a re-enactment of the incident on Tuesday in hope witnesses will come forward. Mariani's brother Dino, who was on hand for the filming, said not knowing what happened that night is difficult.

"Not knowing what was going through his mind, what was going through anybody else's mind. It's been difficult. There are no answers to give us any type of reasoning for this," he said.

He said his brother was a generous man who helped others even through he suffered from Crohn's disease.

"We kind of grew up in this area. I am not sure about the rest of my family, but I try to avoid this area It's painful driving by."

Mariani was shopping at a nearby strip mall that night. He was attacked in an alleyway at the corner of 16th Avenue and 15th Street N.W. and collapsed while trying to stagger to his vehicle. Police found Mariani's personal belongings strewn in the alley and don't know why he was attacked.

The reenactment filmed Tuesday showed a group ofyoung men beating the older man.

Police said at least three people were involved in the attack two of those men are believed to be Caucasian men between 18 and 22 years old who were wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack.

Mariani's death was the 12th homicide out of 14 in 2010 in Calgary.

Last month, investigators released photos of two men they think were in the area at time, but weren't involved in the homicide. Police are still hoping to talk to those men.
