Motorcyclist killed near Sundre, man in custody facing impaired driving charges

One man is dead and another in custody after a late-night collision between a truck and a motorcycle near Sundre.

Emergency crews responded to a crash on Highway 27 at 11:40 p.m. on Friday. The motorcyclist, a 47-year-old man from Sundre, was taken to a Calgary hospital by STARS air ambulance, but later died of his injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 30-year-old man from B.C., was arrested on the scene and will face charges later today according to RCMP. The charges include impaired driving and having a blood-alcohol concentration over .08.

Police believe the truck crossed over the centre line and collided with the motorcycle. The investigation continues.
