Missing Calgary teen located after 48-hour search

A Calgary father says he is "overwhelmed with gratitude" after his teenage daughter was found safe and sound48 hours after she went missing in southwest Calgary.

The 18-year-old, who has a medical condition,didn'thave her medication when she left a relative's home in OakridgeonFriday evening.

The family had launched a desperate search for the teen, with her motherhanding out flyers at area malls, and reaching out to the media to get the public's help in finding her daughter.

On Sunday around 5:30 p.m., the teen was found safely, her fathertold CBC News.

He thankedthe community for helping withthe search effort.

"We live in a beautiful country where people are willing to help. I'm just overwhelmed with gratitude for the people that have helped," the teen's fathersaid.

The family hasn't lived in Calgary for long,so there were fearsthe teen wouldn'tknow the area well.
