Speed, alcohol played role in deadly McKnight Boulevard rollover, police believe

Its believed alcohol and speed were factors in a rollover that killed a teenage girl on Tuesday in northeast Calgary.

It's believed alcohol and speed were factors in a rollover that killed a teenage girl on Tuesday in northeast Calgary.

The crash happenedat about 4:45 p.m. when a Jeep Liberty heading west on McKnight Boulevard N.E. lost control somewhere between 68th and 52nd streets.

The vehicle spun counterclockwise, travelling 110 metres before entering the median and then rolling across the eastbound lanes, police say.

All three people in the Jeep were ejected. The front passenger, a 17-year-old girl, died from her injuries in hospital.

The male driver and rear female passenger are stillin hospital in life-threatening condition.

The Calgary Police Service traffic section is continuing to investigate.
