YouTube video captures dangerous lane splitting incident on QE2 highway

RCMP are investigating after a driver narrowly passed between two vehicles at a high speed on one of Alberta's busiest highways. The suspect have been identified and questioned, and may face charges.

'I would likely suspect that charges will be laid in the near future,' say RCMP

Update, April 15: A 20-year-old Calgary man has been criminally charged in relation to this incident.


RCMP are investigating after a driver narrowly passed between two vehicles at a high speed on one of Alberta's busiest highways.

The dangerous driverwas captured on a dashcamearlier this weekapproaching a group of car enthusiaststravelling north on Highway2, otherwise known as the Queen Elizabeth II Highway orQE2.

They are part of the BMW Alberta Enthusiasts Car Club.

The driver was clocking morethan 113 km/h, according to the person who postedthedashcamvideo.The lane splitting incidenthappened on April 10 at roughly11:20 a.m.near Bowden, Alta.

Suspect identified, questioned

RCMPsay the driver nearly hit the two vehicles when itpassed through them.The vehicle then passed another member of the group on the shoulder of the road before speeding away.

"Other witnesses thatsaw the driving actually located the driver and confronted him," said Cpl.Kevin Halwa with theSylvan RCMP.

He said the vehicle and suspect have been identified and questioned, but not arrested.

"I would likely suspect that charges will be laid in the near future," said Halwa.
