Albertan talent recognized in multiple 2020 Juno nominations

Nuela Charles, Nehiyawak, Tenille Townes and Al Muirhead are among the Alberta artists nominated for the 2020 Junos.

Congratulations are in order for all ourlocal artists making national news by getting nominated for the 2020 Juno Awards.

Alberta has nominees in several very big categories: songwriting, Indigenous artists, R&B, jazz andmetal.

Nuela Charles is up for one of the biggest Junos, Adult Contemporary Album of the Year,for the third year in a row. Maybe it'll be third time's the charmfor her albumMelt, which also scored a Juno nod for video producerRyan Worlsey.

Two Edmonton artists are vying for the Indigenous Album of the Year honours: Nehiyawak's ode to water, Nipiy and Celeigh Cardinal's Stories from a Downtown Apartment.

Tenille Townes was born and raised in Grande Prairie. Her passion for songwriting took her to Nashville, where she has a record deal with Columbia Nashville. She's up for Songwriter of the Year and Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Junos.

Al Muirhead is an inspiration to any musician who wonders how long they'll be able to keep performing. Now in his mid-80s, Undertones is up for a jazz Juno.

Plus, there arenominations forsongs by Striker, Royal Tusk, Tanika Charles and Dana Wylie.
