Heritage Park produce sale raises money for charity

Fruits and veggies are for sale at Heritage Park this weekend. The annual Harvest Sale is a fundraiser for charity.

Fruits and veggies are for sale at Heritage Park this weekend,an event that's an annual fundraiser for charity.

TheHarvest Saleraisesmoney for the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, theCommunity Kitchen Program of Calgary, and the Heritage Park Society.All the produce on sale at the eventis donated.

"We sell our produce for a little bit lower than you'd find it in the grocery store," saidReveeMarshall, a spokeswoman Calgary Produce Marketing Association.

"For example, we have cases of peaches for $15, we have cases of melons for $5, we have 50 pounds of potatoes for $10. We have some amazing prices out here today."

This year there is more five more truckloads of produce than last year.

"A lot of producers or growers have had phenomenal crops this year," she said.

Shoppers still need to buy tickets into Heritage Park to attend the sale.
