Halloween snow on the way for Calgary

Trick-or-treaters should be prepared to bundle up on Thursday flurries are in the forecast forHalloween.

Environment Canada is projectingperiods of snow to start around 9 a.m. onOct. 31 that shouldend by mid-afternoon.

Thosegoing door-to-door later in the day are likely to dodgethe snowfall, buttemperatures are supposed to dip below freezing around 8 p.m.

They should hover throughout the evening between1 C and 6 C, while last year temperatures stayed above freezingovernight.

"This year's probably going to be relatively close to last year maybe a little bit cooler, maybe a little bit snowier," said Dan Kulak, ameteorologist with Environment Canada.

"There's going to be a chance of snow throughout the region and the possibility of a little bit of wind as well. So bundle up, but have some fun."

According to Kulak, winds could be gusting between 30 and 50 km/h, and this will add a bite to the cold.

But considering weather in other parts of Alberta, Calgary might be getting off easy Environment Canada meteorologiststweetedon Tuesday that temperatures reached record lows across the province, including 23.3 C in Banff.

Kulak says the warmest Halloween on record in Calgary was 21.1 C in 1958.

Conversely, the coldest Halloween daytime high was 15.7 C in 1984.
