Feedback wanted on ticket scalpers

Service Alberta Minister Stephanie McLean says she wants to do something about the issue of concert ticket resales. She's asking for input from the businesses that resell the tickets, and from consumers who resent having to buy them at inflated prices.

"There's a ton of different options. And what exactly is the right combination of factors, that remains to be seen," she said.

"So, we will certainly be looking at other jurisdictions, even outside of Canada, for guidance on that, and looking to hear from Albertans."

Service Alberta is taking online inputon a number of consumer matters until Sept. 15.

New arena?

There was also some online chatter about Calgary's aging Saddledome.

There is currently work underway to decide when, how and where in the city to build a new arena for professional sports and concerts.

City council voted in April to examine what became known as a"Plan B" proposal for an arena north of the current Saddledomeafter city staff deemed the Calgary Flamesownershipgroup's proposal for a combined arena and stadium west of downtown to be too costly.

A City of Edmonton report in March boasted the nine sold-out Garth Brooks shows generated $42 million for the local economy. But not everyone, such as Mayor Naheed Nenshi, was convinced of the public benefit.
