Two people dead after Highway 1 crash west of Calgary

A crash on Highway 1 has killed two people. The names of the deceased have not been released, but they were a driver and passenger, RCMP said Friday in a press release.

Two people are dead after a single-vehicle crash Friday morning on Highway 1 west of Calgary.

The names of the deceased have not been released, but they were thedriver and passenger in the car, RCMP said in a press release.

The accident occurred on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of OldBanff Coach Road.

The cause of the crash has not been disclosed.

RCMP told CBC News that the accident was reported around 8:05 a.m.

Policedescribedthe investigation as still in its early stages.

Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane for several hours.

By 3 p.m., traffic was back to normal, police said.
