Fatal motorcycle crash possibly caused by obstructed views, Calgary police say

Calgary police are looking into whether obstructed views played a role in a fatal motorcycle crash at a southeast Calgary intersection on Tuesday.

Parked car and an advertising board may have kept driver and motorcyclist from seeing each other

Calgary police are looking into whether obstructed views played a role in a fatal motorcycle crash at a southeast Calgary intersection on Tuesday.

At about12:30 p.m., a motorcyclist was riding west on Barlow Trailwhere it skirts along Albert Park andstruck a carturning east on 26th Street S.E.

The 23-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured.

Investigators believe avehicle parked at the northeast corner of the intersection, as well asan advertising board, prevented the driver of the carand the motorcyclist from seeing each other.

Police say speed may also havebeen a factor, but alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been involved.
