Illegal U-turn leads to another fatal crash on Highway 22 near the Trans-Canada

An illegal U-turn is being blamed for another death on Highway 22just south of the Trans-Canada Highway.

A 68-year-old manfrom Tennessee was killed Tuesday morning after he pulled over on the southbound shoulder of the highway and tried to make a U-turn to head north, according to Cochrane RCMP.

The car he was driving was then struck by a southbound pickup truck, killing the driver and injuring his passenger, a 69-year-old man also from Tennessee.

The passenger of the car was taken toto Foothills hospital in stable condition with minor injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 28-year-old man from Cochrane, was not injured.

The crash happened in virtually the same spot and in the same way as another fatal crash four months earlier.

On July 27,anEdmontonman was killed when he attempted a U-turn on Highway 22, just south of the Trans-Canada,and his car was struck on the driver's-side door by a pickup truck.
