Calgary man arrested in 2020 Cranston shooting

Calgary police have arrested a man in relation to a shooting last year in the citys southeast that left a man critically injured.

Calgary police have arrested a man in relation to a shooting last year in the city's southeast that left a man critically injured.

Police received calls that shots had been fired in the 400 block of Cranford Park S.E. on Dec. 7, 2020.

An additional call reporting an injured man believed to be suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1000 block of Cranston Drive S.E. was received by police shortly after.

Upon arriving at the scene, police administered first aid to the victim, and learned he had sought help after driving himself a short distance before crashing his car into a parked vehicle.

He was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Police said in a press release on Thursday that Calgarian Jason Marc Leduc,19, has been arrested in connection to the shooting.

Leduc has been charged with:

  • Aggravated assault.
  • Discharge of a firearm.
  • Possession of a loaded firearm.
  • Carrying a concealed weapon.
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

It is believed by police that the suspect and victim involved in the shooting were known to each other.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the incident.

They are asking citizens who have any information and have not yet spoken to investigators to call the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234.
