Thieves were capturedon a security camera stealing $7,000 worth of ice rink maintenance equipment from a Calgary community association's shed earlier this month.

"We can't express enough how important it is for our investigations to have good quality video footage," saidpoliceSgt. Jodi Gach.

"Ideally it puts the individuals at the offence and having evidence that we're able to support the charges [with]based on identifying people from the CCTV.We couldn't ask for anything more, and this footage is really great."

The thieves broke into a shed on Citadel Drive owned by the Citadel Community Association overnight between Sept. 15 and Sept. 16.

"They used a pry-bar to force open the lock and when they were unsuccessful they used tools to remove bolts that were attached to the door of the frame of the shed," said Gach.

About$7,000 worth of property used to take care of the community's outdoor ice rink was stolen from the shed.
