Woman found dead in Calgary motel room identified

The woman found dead in the Red Carpet Inn on the Friday before Christmas has been identified as a 43-year-old who was sharing her room with the man who has been charged.

The woman who was found dead in a northwest Calgary motel room on the Friday before Christmas has been identified as 43-year-old Sylina Ann Curley.

Shewas found in a room at the Red Carpet Inn in the 4600 block of 16th Avenue N.W. just after 7 a.m. on Dec. 21.

An autopsy was done on Dec. 24, police said in a release Thursday, but the cause of death was not released.

ClifftonJames Spotted Eagle, who was sharing a room with the victim and called police to report the death, was arrested at the scene.

He was later charged with second-degree murder.

Spotted Eagle and the woman are believed to have been in a relationship, police said.

He is set to appear in court on Jan. 4.
