Police investigate suspicious package in northeast Calgary

Calgary police investigated a suspicious package Wednesday afternoon in the citys northeast, causing traffic snarls during rush hour on a busy route.

Calgary police investigated a suspicious package Wednesday afternoon in the city's northeast, causing traffic snarls during rush hour on a busy route.

Police responded to the 600 block of 36th Street N.E. around 3:30 p.m. The location is near the Marlborough LRT station and just north of Marlborough Mall.

Several adjacent roads were closed as was Marlborough LRT station, with shuttle buses connecting users from Franklin to Rundle stations, as police investigate a suspicious package Wednesday afternoon. (Mike Symington/CBC)

Police could be seen using a bomb disposal robot.
