Police warn families to check Halloween treats after possible candy tampering in Panorama Hills

Calgary police are warning parents and families to check their children's Halloween treats after a report of possible candy tampering in Panorama Hills.

A woman in the northwest Calgary neighbourhood reported to police on Thursday that she found a sewing needle inside a chocolate bar her child received while trick-or-treating in the area, according to a news release.

The child did not eat the chocolate and was not injured.

Police have not determined where the child received the chocolate from as they collected candy from more than 100 houses, the release said. Police continue to investigate to determine if the tampering was intentional.

Police are reminding parents and guardiansto check their children's candy before allowing them to consume it, check wrappers for rips or holes, and throw out any candy that looks suspicious.
