Body found in Harvest Hills alleyway treated as suspicious death

A body has been found in an alleyway in the northeast Calgary neighbourhood of Harvest Hills under what police describe as suspicious circumstances.

"There would be signs of violence, yes," saidInsp.Don Coleman of theMajor Crimes Section on Thursday.

A passerby called police around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, police told CBC News.

The body was found near the intersection of Harvest Hills Drive N.E. and Harvest Glen Heights N.E.

Police have blocked off an area inthe9700 block of Harvest Hills Link N.E. while they investigate.

They said thedeath is considered suspicious and an autopsy is pending, but they don't expect to release much more information until the autopsy is complete.

Jordan Howatt said he wasdropping his kids off at his wife's house, right next to where the body was found,and she didn't hear anything out of the ordinary on Wednesday night but some of the neighbours told him theyhad heard arguing.

"They heard a car take off, but they couldn't make out what the argument was about or anything like that," he said.

Police do notbelieve there is "any risk to public safety" related to theincident itself. Several witnesses have been interviewed and theinvestigation is ongoing.

"What we would like is anybodywhobelieves they saw anything throughout the course of last night and this morning in that area comes forward," saidInsp.Coleman,
