Calgary police are asking for the public's help after being unable to identify a body located under a southeast overpassthis summer.

Police say they were called on Aug. 22to an overpass in the area of 50th Avenue S.E. and Ogden Road S.E. for a report of human remains.

However, the body had decomposed significantly, and no identification was found.

Investigators said in a release Wednesday they have been unable to identify the individual, butthat they're believed to be male andlikely homeless.

All traditional identification attempts have since failed, but officers did find three unique rings located on the man.

Police have released images of the rings, and hope that someone may recognize them.

They also have provided descriptions of each one:

  • The first ring is oval-shaped with a large oval turquoise stone.
  • The second ring is rectangular-shaped with three small diamonds inlaid on the face.
  • The third ring is a dark braided band with a small white stone in the centre.
Calgary police are hoping someone will be able to identify the owner of this oval-shaped ring with a large turquoise stone. (Calgary Police Service)
