Suspect charged with brandishing 'imitation' weapon in crowded Calgary McDonald's

Calgary police have charged the man they say brandished a real-looking paintball gun at a McDonald's restaurant, causing a panic.

Calgary police have charged the man they say brandished a real-looking paintball gun at a McDonald's restaurant, causing a panic.

Dozens of screaming people fled the crowded restaurant, located in the Wal-Mart at Marlborough Mall, while one man attempted to wrestle the gun away from the suspect, believing it was a real weapon.

Police praised the action of that man, describing him as a "Good Samaritan" who would have saved "countless lives" had the suspect indeed been carrying a real gun.

Duran Ross Buffalo, 32,of no fixed address, was arrested by four officers who happened to be nearby at the time and responded to the panic.

Buffalo is charged with possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, use of an imitation firearm during the commission of an offence, mischief, andfourcountsofpossession ofdrugs.

Police had also found smallquantities of crack cocaine,methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana in Buffalo's possession.
