A list of the City of Calgary fees going up in the new year

Along with a new year, a number of increased city fees will arrive when the clock strikes midnight on Dec. 31.

The increases were approved by council earlier this year as part of the 2015-18budget cycle.

Below is a list of some of the increasedfees and charges for city services.

Getting around on transit will cost a little bit more.

So will skating at the city's indoor arenas.

The cost of swimming in the city's pools or working out at a fitness centreis increasing.

And so is the price of admission to leisure centres.

Ice times will be a little more expensive.

Renting an athletic field will also cost a few more dollars.

So will picnic site rentals, for groups between one and 500 people.

The cost of adopting a cat or dog is also going up.

The garbage collection fee is staying the same, but recycling rates aren't.

Some water service fees are going down, while others are rising.
