Elderly woman killed by C-Train in northeast Calgary

An elderly female pedestrian was killed by a C-Train at the intersection of 39th Avenue and 36th Street N.E. on Wednesday morning.

LRT service was disrupted between Whitehorn and McKnight stations

A pedestrian was killed in a collision with a train on Wednesday morning at the LRT crossing at 36th Street and 39th Avenue N.E. (CBC)

An elderly female pedestrian was struck and killed by a C-Train at the intersection of 39th Avenue and 36th Street N.E. in Calgary.

It happened just before9 a.m. Wednesday, police say. The woman was declared dead at the scene.

Police said in a release that no further details about the victim or the cause of the collision are yet available.

Officers with the CPS traffic section are investigating.

C-Trainservice between theWhitehornandMcKnightstations was disrupted for about two hours while crews worked at the scene. Roads that were closed near the incident have since reopened.
