Man found dead in alley in northwest community of Ranchlands

Calgary police are investigating after a man was found dead in an alley in the northwest community of Ranchlands.

Few details are available but police were called to Ranchero Rise N.W. about 4 p.m. where the man was found in a vehicle.

The homicide unit is now investigating.

Police said in a release"there is no indication this was random," adding the discovery is not connected to a suspicious death in Pineridge on Friday.

Neighbour Rick Chorney said he drove past the areaon his way home without noticing anything amiss until emergency crews arrived.

"Then, all of a sudden you see the ambulance came, police came, lights were blinking, you had no idea what was going on," he said.

Chorney described the neighbourhood as "quiet."

"We've been here 35 years and nothing like this has happened," he said.

An autopsy is scheduled for early next week.
