Calgary couple becomes 1st to tie the knot in YYC international terminal

Churches, beaches, banquet halls? Sure. But an airport?

Theatypical wedding venue is exactly where Calgarians Jeannine Beck and Fareed Rawji chose to tie the knot Wednesday morning, marking a first for the new international terminal in Calgary.

"Originally, we were looking at having a destination wedding, but wanted something that was truly unique," said Beck, 27.

"Rather than having our wedding ceremony in Mexico, we thought, 'Let's get married in Calgary in a colourful way.'"

The ceremony took place in front of an intimate crowd at the departures check-in hall. Moments later, the newlyweds hopped a plane to Mexico for the honeymoon.

Beck and Rawji reached out toSunwingAirlines and YYC to organize the historic event.
