Alberta road collisions down over the holidays, say RCMP

Alberta roads saw fewer traffic collisions this holiday season over last year,according to theRCMP.

The numbers of injury collisions, fatalities and impaired driving charges between Dec.23 and Jan.3were all down compared to last year.

Every year the RCMP track statistics to try toget a sense of trends on the roads.

Compared to last year's holiday season,this year the news waspositive injury collisions were down dramatically to 95 from 135.

There was one fatality this year compared to five last year, and impaired driving charges were down to 112 from 157.

There was one case of impaired driving causing bodily harm compared to seven last year.

Theoverall decrease comes along with the same levels ofenforcement as last year.
