2 girls, 14, charged after cemetery vandalized

Two teenage girls are facing charges after Queen's Park Cemetery, in Calgary's northwest, was vandalized.

Two teenage girls are facing charges after a cemetery in Calgary's northwest was vandalized.

The incident occurred at the Queen's Park Cemetery on Wednesday.

Six graves were damaged. A few of the graves' concrete and glass vases were broken,and one tombstone was pushed over and broken.

Two 14-year-old girls, accompanied by their parents, turned themselves in to police.

Police said the damage to thecemeteryis estimated at about $6,000.

The girls can't be named because of their ages, but police said both have been charged with causingproperty damage over $5,000.
