A B.C. Supreme Court judge has ruled that 30 hours of videotaped affidavits to be presented at a hearing into the constitutionality of Canada's polygamy laws can be broadcast by news media.

A B.C. Supreme Court judge hasruled that30 hours of videotaped affidavits can be broadcast by news media after Crown lawyers at a hearing into the constitutionality of Canada's polygamy laws asked that the tapesnot be aired. The affidavitsfrom people who once lived or still live in polygamous communities had already been released for use inprint andonline coverage of the hearing. Some of the people testifyingare in favour of thepolygamist lifestyle and want the current laws dissolved. Othersare opposed, as we hear in the excerpts inthis report by the CBC's Natalie Clancy.
