Vancouver police identify victim in fatal Downtown Eastside stabbing

Vancouver police continue to investigate the citys ninth homicide of the year.

Vancouver police have named the man stabbed to death early Tuesday on theDowntown Eastside.

Police sayMark Eriksen, 51, was stabbed atMain and East Hastings just before 8 a.m.

According to police, the suspect approachedEriksen on a bicycleand exchanged a few words before the stabbing.

Eriksen was rushed to hospitalbut died from his injuriesa short time later.

Police say the attack was not random.
