Vancouver man walks away from bad highway crash in Langley

A Vancouver man has to be the luckiest personalive, after walking away nearly unharmed from acar crash on the Trans Canada Highwayin Langley, B.C., early Sunday morning.

The man, who declined to give his name, said he fell asleep around 1 a.m., PT, on hisway back from a sightseeing trip to Nelson, B.C.

His car, a Mazda sedan, smashed through two 20 cm trees and down a steepfive metre embankment on the highway,just east of264 Street in Langley.

The driver said he had pulled over near Hope to rest, but then tried to finish the drive home to Vancouver.

He was a little banged up and bloody after the crash, but didn't appear to need any medical treatment.

The driver said he awoke just as the car was leaving the highway, and experienced the entire frightening crash.

The car was completely destroyed, but the driver was able to collect his personal possessions from the wreck before it was towed away.
