Vancouver airport runway will likely be closed for 2 days after cargo plane overruns landing

A runway at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) willlikely be closed for two daysafter an Amazon Prime plane overran a landing early Tuesday morning.

YVR said in a statement the CargoJet flight, operating a PrimeAir aircraft, overran the eastern boundary of YVR'snorth runway around 1:45 a.m. PT Tuesday.

It saidthe crew of three safely got out of the planeand no injuries were reported. YVR fire and rescue attended the scene.

The airport said the north runway will likely remain closed for around 48 hours, affecting operations and flight schedules.

"We encouragepassengers to check with their airlines for current flight schedules and status before heading to YVR," the statement from the airport said.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada said on Tuesday morning that it is deploying a team of investigators to gather information and assess the incident.
