Suspect who allegedly groped 7-year-old girl on SkyTrain turns himself in

The 57-year-old Burnaby man allegedly made lewd sexual remarks to the little girl and then attempted to grabbed her buttocks. He is known to police.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police say a suspect wanted for allegedly groping a seven-year-old girl has turned himself and is potentially facing a charge of sexual interference.

The 57-year-old man, who is from Burnaby, B.C., and is known to police,also allegedly made lewd sexual remarks to the little girl while riding on the SkyTrainon Saturday, Feb. 2.

According to a media release, the man was already on the train when the girl and her mother boarded at Commercial-Broadway and sat down across the aisle from him.

He then directed several comments at the girl thatTransit Police described as "extremely vulgar and sexual in nature, including detailing sexual acts he wanted to engage in."

At one point the suspect allegedly reached out and touched the girl's buttocks.

The man left the train at the Production Way-University station after being confronted by a bystander.

The suspect has been released on a promise-to-appear order, with conditions he not contact the victim or family, that he not ride SkyTrain, and abstain from alcohol.

He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Vancouver on April 9.
