Surrey RCMP investigating after shots fired in Newton

Surrey RCMP are investigating a report of shots fired in the 7200 block of 151 Street Monday night.

Police believe this was a targeted incident

Surrey RCMP are investigating a report of shots fired in the Newton area Monday night.

Police received the call around 7:45 PM P.T. and found evidence at the scene, in the 7200 block of 151 Street, that two vehicles were involved in the incident.

Police located the vehicle they believe was the target of the shooting. No one was shot but one male victim had minor injuries from glass fragments in the vehicle, said Surrey RCMP in a written release.

Police believe this was a targeted incident.

72 Avenue from 150 to 152 Street was closed for several hours Monday night to allow officers to gather evidence.

There have been more than 30 shootings in Surrey since January.
