Police say a dead man may be the victim of 2013's 22nd homicide

An unidentifiedman has been found dead in Surrey, B.C., marking the city's22nd homicide of the year the most in the city's history.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called to a home on the 12000 block of 99 Avenue just after 8 a.m. PT on Monday.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound says the means and cause of death are still unknown but the man's death has been deemed suspicious.

The name of the victim has not been confirmed, but he is not believed to live in the house.Pound said it istoo early to tell if the slaying is related to drugs or gangs.

Severalother people, who were atthe house when police arrived, are cooperating with investigators.No arrests have been made.

Meanwhile, Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts and RCMP Chief Supt. Bill Fordyhave announced a task force to look at the record-breaking number of homicides in Surrey this year.
