Surrey Diwali event cancelled after medical emergency

A Diwali event at Central City in Surrey was cancelled because of a medical emergency on Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses say a man choked on a sweet gulab jamun during an eating contest on stage.

The event was supposed to continue until 6:30 p.m. PT.

Organizers confirm there was a medical emergency at the event but declined to provide further details.
