Dix, NDP maintain solid lead in B.C. poll

The latest Angus Reid poll shows little change in the political landscape of B.C., with NDP support slippingdown five percentage points to 45 per cent, while the governing Liberals remain at 23 per cent support.

The poll found the support for the B.C. Conservativesrose three percentage points to 22 per cent, while the Greensrose two points to eight per cent.

According to pollster Mario Canseco, the poll also found NDP Leader Adrian Dix remains popular with voters while Premier Christy Clark continues to struggle to win voter support.

"Almost half of respondents48 per centapprove of the way Official Opposition and NDP Leader Adrian Dix is handling his duties, making him the best-ranked politician in the province," said Canseco.

"Three-in-five British Columbians 64 per cent disapprove of Clark's performance, and more than half55 per centsay their opinion of her has worsened in the past three months."

The poll of 801 B.C. adults was conducted online between July 3 and 5 using a randomly selected group from a panel of representative voters.

The next provincial election is scheduled for May 2013.
