BC Ferry hits dock in Nanaimo

A B.C. ferry has struck the dock while entering the Departure Bay terminal at Nanaimo.

B.C. Ferry spokeswoman Deborah Marshall called Friday's incident"a hard landing."

There were no injuries requiring the attention of paramedics, B.C. Ambulance reported.

Most passengers would have been in their vehicles at the time of the impact, but foot passengers would have been assembled for exit from the vessel's passenger deck.

Marshall saidthere is some damage to both the ship and the dock and as a result, the 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.sailings between Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay have been cancelled.

It's not known if the cause of the incident has been determined yet.

The Queen of Oak Bay continues to sail on theNanaimo route.
