SkyTrain Expo and Millennium Lines resume after 2 hours of delays

TransLink says both the Expo and Millennium Lines are now running normally after close to two hours of delays Saturday night.

The authority has not yet issued a reason behind the shut down, but attendants were forced to drive problem trains into stations manually.

At one point, the Expo Line was completely shut down as TransLink scrambled to set up bus bridges between stations. There was also no service in Vancouver's downtown core.

At the time Transit Police asked commuters not to force open doors on trains because of the risk of electrocution. The authority can also fine passengers who force doors open.

"Crews worked as quickly as possible to safely get the trains running again, and bus operators were called into work to get passengers on their way while SkyTrain service was down," said the authority in a release.

The problems came as thousands of commuters were trying to get to Rogers Arena for the start of the Canucks' home game against the Detroit Red Wings, which began at 7 p.m. PT.

To accommodate hockey fans taking transit after thegame, four additional trains will be added.
