Search continues for missing northern B.C. woman

The search is continuing for a woman in northern B.C. who disappeared more than a week ago.

Immaculate "Mackie" Basil, 26,was last seen on June 14 by a forestry worker around the Kuzche Reserve, near Fort St. James.

Ground and air crews searched along various forestry roads in the area last week.

Ralph Pierre, chief of the Tl'azt'en First Nation,saidthey are expanding the search and will begin scouring the Tachie River today.

"We're sending vehicles down all sorts of old logging roads within a 20 kilometer radius. Four wheelers and the ground crews continue to search up to a half a kilometer into the bush," he said.

Pierre says Basil may have been travelling to a cabin when she disappeared.

She was last seen wearing grey yoga pants, white shoes and a black hoodie with a maple leaf on the front.

"You know the emotions are running high in the community. A lot of people are tired, but yet their adrenaline kicks in, and everybody just keeps going, and going and going," Pierre said.
