One person dead after Richmond house fire starts in bedroom

One person died in a north Richmond B.C. house fire overnight that appears to have started in the bedroom.

A person died in a north Richmond B.C. house fire overnight after flames appear to have startedin the bedroom.

Firefighters were called to a fire at12:40 a.m. PT and found one room ofahouse "fully involved."

Richmond Deputy Chief Kim Howell said the fire engulfed one bedroom, but it was extinguished before it spread to the rest of the home.

"There was a fatality," said Howell,

Three other occupants of the home on Riverdale Drive were taken to hospital and are being treated for smoke inhalation, she said.

Richmond RCMP are investigating the incident.
