Searchers find remains they believe is missing Alaska man, says RCMP

RCMP say searchers in B.C. have found human remains in anarea where a missing Alaska man disappeared in late November2016.

Anthony Adevai, 70,was last seen near Kinaskan Lake, along the Stewart-Cassiar Highway south of Dease Lake, in northwestern B.C. He was drivinghome to Alaska after visiting family and attending his brother's funeral in Oregon.

Now, investigators say volunteersearch teams have "located human remains in the immediate area" where Adevai'svehicle was found abandoned onNov.29, 2016.

The search took place along Highway 37, about 140 km south of Dease Lake.

In a statement, police said searchers located clothing and personal items they believe belongs to Adevai. However, police say theB.C. CoronersService is continuing its investigation to confirm the identity of the remains.

RCMP say Adevai's family has been made aware of the discovery.
