RCMP investigate second targeted shooting in Burnaby

Burnaby RCMPare investigating an attempted shooting at an apartment buildingnear Lougheed Highway late Thursday night.

Officers responded after a caller heard shots fired in a high-rise building in the 2000 block of Rosser Avenue around 11:30p.m. PT.

RCMP saidno one was injured, but a vehicle in an underground parking lot was damaged by gunfire.

Officers said the intended target of the shooting is known to police and is affiliated with an organized crime group.

No arrests have been made.

RCMP ask public to becautious

The incident was the second targeted shooting inBurnabythis week.

Early on Wednesday morning aman drove his car into the bedroom of a house after he was shot.

Burnaby investigators said they are working with other RCMP detachments to determine whether these incidents are linked.

Staff Sgt. Maj. John Buis of the Burnaby RCMP said that members of the public should be cautious.

"For now we believe that the public is not at great risk, but having said that, you should always be mindful of your surroundings, and particularly if you see known gang members in the area," he said.

RCMP are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
