Body of missing hiker Gregory James Tiffin found near Agassiz, B.C.

The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed thebody found near Statlu Lake north of Agassiz, B.C. on Tuesday is that of Gregory James Tiffin.

Tiffin, 44, and hispartner, AustralianSophieDowsley, 34,were reported missing July 12 after setting out for a hike in the Statlu Lake area.

The missing couple's vehicle was later found near a trail at Statlu Lake by search and rescue personnel.

"All search resources remain engaged as we continue to look for the missing woman," said RCMP Cpl. Mike Rail.

"RCMP remain in close contact with the victim's and missing woman's families."

The RCMPfirst reported the discovery of the body Wednesday, but would not confirm its identity, directing inquiries to the coroner.

The B.C. Coroners Service would also not initially confirm the identity, citing privacy concerns.
