The earth has moved again for some residents along the B.C. coast as the latest mild earthquake was recorded off Vancouver Island.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 4.4 earthquake occurred at 7:33 p.m. PT Sunday.

It was centred 200 kilometres west of Tofino and the U.S. report says it was not strong enough to generate a tsunami or cause any damage.

The quake came one day after a 7.5 magnitudeshaker hit off the coast of southeastern Alaska, although that incident also did not cause any damage.

B.C.'s entire coast lies along an active earthquake zone and the constant shifting spawns hundreds of minor shakers each year, including the 3.3 magnitude quake off Sidney, northeast of Victoria, on Boxing Day, and the 4.5 magnitude event 150 kilometres west of Port Hardy on Dec. 23.

Aftershocks also continue to rattle Haida Gwaii following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake thatjolted the north coaston Oct. 27.
