Man pepper sprays visitors, guards at St. Paul's Hospital

Providence Health says four people are being treated after apparently being pepper sprayed by an unidentified man inSt. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver on Monday.

Spokesperson Dave Lefebvresaid the seemingly random attack happened just before 4 p.m. PT, when the man came into the hospital front entrance and began screaming.

The man then deployed what Lefebvrebelieves waspepper spray, injuring two visitors and two security guards, before leaving.

No one else was seriously affected, said Lefebvre. Staff closed down the area to clean up the spray, but it has now been reopened.
