Drivers commuting betweenthe North Shore and downtownVancouver can expect a smoother ride going across the Lions Gate Bridge on Monday morning.

Crews have removed the thick metalplates known as 'the bump" that caused drivers to slow down as they drove over themall last week, causing traffic to back up across the North Shore and into downtown Vancouver.

On Monday morning many drivers werestill slowing down as they approached the site where crews have been working to replace an expansion joint but traffic was flowing better than last week.

Ministry of Transportation has said the work on the bridge is not yet complete, and crews will be back on the bridge in the coming weeks. It remains unclear if the bump will return when the work resumes.
