Robert Dziekanski Taser death: Const. Kwesi Millington's appeal dismissed

The RCMP officer who fired the Taser that killed Robert Dziekanski has lost an appeal in the B.C. Court of Appealagainst his perjury conviction.

In 2015 Const. Kwesi Millington was sentenced to 30 months in jail. He was released on bail on Thursday in Vancouver. His lawyer has filedan appealwiththe Supreme Court of Canada.

Dziekanski died in 2007 after multiple hits from Millington's Taser. Millington and three other officers had been called to the scene on reports that Dziekanski, a Polish immigrant who spoke no English, was agitated and throwing chairs in the airport's international arrivals area.

The Crown alleged that the four officers colluded to lie during investigations into Dziekanski's death, but verdicts have differed in the officers' individual trials. Millington and former corporal Benjamin Robinson were found guilty, but Const. Bill Bentley and Const. Gerry Rundel were acquitted.

Of the four officers, Millington is the only one facing jail time.
